National Conference of State Legislatures A bipartisan organization founded in 1975 to serve the nation's 50 states, territories and commonwealths. Through its office in Denver, the Conference provides research, publications. 50-state information and tailored assistance to states on a myriad of public policy issues. The Conference advocates on behalf of the state before Congress and the administration through its office in Washington, D.C. The leadership of NCSL is composed of legislators and staff from across the country. The NCSL Executive Committee provides overall direction on the operations of the Conference. Women in Government Women in Government, headquartered in Washington, DC, is a national, non-profit, non-partisan organization of women state legislators providing leadership opportunities, networking, expert forums, and educational resources to address and resolve complex public policy issues. American Legislative Exchange Council America's largest nonpartisan, voluntary membership organization, compromised of one-quarter of the country's state legislators. Members advance policy focused on limited government, free markets and federalism. The organization provides a unique opportunity for state lawmakers, business leaders and citizen organizations to share experiences and develop pro-growth models based on research, state policy and proven busness practices. The American Legislative Exchange Council and its nine task forces imitate the legislative process: resolutions are introduces and assigned to an appropriate task force; meetings are conducted where experts present ideas for discussion.
