Lobby the Lobster
Lobby the Lobster has become SGAC's beloved unofficial mascot, traveling far and wide. Last year's 50 in 50 Capitol Challenge marked an exciting milestone as Lobby officially visited every U.S. state capitol, along with several U.S. territories and even a few international destinations.
In 2026, Lobby is back on the road with a new purpose. As part of SGAC President Anika Hagenson's Building Bridges initiative, SGAC has partnered with the American Exchange Project, a nonprofit that gives graduating high school seniors the opportunity to participate in a free domestic exchange, visiting a community different from their own and building connections across the country.
Throughout the year, Lobby will travel to all 50 states, capturing what building bridges looks like in real life. That might mean bridges across the aisles, across chambers, across states, or across sectors.
If you are traveling for work, attending a conference, meeting with legislators, or connecting with peers, bring Lobby along and snap a photo that reflects collaboration and connection. When you share your photo, tag SGAC and use #sgacnews to help spread the word.
Our goal is to raise $40,000 to fund 50 student exchanges across all 50 states, helping the next generation experience a more connected America.
