​SGAC is a member led organization where participating in a committee provides a valuable leadership opportunity to drive the programming direction and future of SGAC. Share your thoughts and have your voice heard!

Browse below descriptions of the variety of committees available. Committees vary in time commitment so that they are accessible to all SGAC members regardless of busy schedules.

Education & Training
Time Commitment: Varies.
Education & Training Committee is responsible for overseeing SGAC's educational opportunities including webinar offerings, the planning of seminars, and input into the educational offerings at the National Summit. The committee identifies topics and potential speakers and explores the further development of the Professional and Advanced Certificate Programs.

Member Services
Time Commitment: 90 minutes / month (60 minute conference call, 30 minute assignment)
Member Services Committee is responsible for enhancing the SGAC membership experience. The committee reviews and develops membership through: raising SGAC awareness, recruitment, engagement, renewal, and reinstatement. Committee member responsibilities could include conducting welcome calls to new members; periodic check-in calls to existing members; outreach to prospective members via phone or in person at conferences; encouraging former members to rejoin and evaluating offerings.

Public Sector Outreach
Time Commitment: Varies. Conference calls on occasion and leading up to the Leaders' Policy Conference.
Public Sector Outreach Committee is responsible for increasing SGAC's footprint among elected state officials across the country. The committee helps develop and implement communication campaigns to introduce and educate elected state government officials on the benefits of participating in SGAC events and growing relationships with the private-sector community. The committee explores partnership expansions with: governors, and AGs local government officials.

Communications
Time Commitment: 30 - 60 minutes / month 

Communications committee is responsible for recommending the creation of new SGAC materials, marketing initatives to current and prospective members, and evaluating current communications.

Young Professionals Committee
Time Commitment: 30 - 60 minutes / month

​Young Professionals Committee is responsible for outreach to and engagement of state government relations employees of SGAC member organizations who are age 35 and younger. Committee activities will include, but are not limited to, organizing professional development and networking events and programs geared toward those in SGAC membership who are in the beginning to early middle of their careers. The Committee is also responsible for the planning and executing of appropriate sessions and events for young professionals in state government relations with the support of SGAC staff and in collaboration with the other SGAC committees.

Leaders' Policy Conference
Time Commitment: 60 minutes+ / month

​​Leaders' Policy Conference Committee is responsible for creating the policy agenda for SGAC Foundation's Leaders' Policy Conference. Committee members work to decide which topics are of most relevance for the legislative leadership. The committee also strategizes the recruitment of legislative leadership for LPC attendance, working hard to ensure all 50 states and territories are represented.

National Summit
Time Commitment: 60 minutes+ / month

National Summit Committee is responsible for creating the educational agenda for SGAC's National Summit and ensures topics are timely and captivating for SGR member attendees. The committee also decides which philanthropic endeavor SGAC will pursue, and plans the social events for enhanced networking. Read more about National Summit.
